Teaching Personnel is seeking experienced and passionate SEN Teachers to support a range of specialist and mainstream provisions across the St Helens area. ⭐ About the Role

As an SEN Teacher working through Teaching Personnel, you will support pupils with a variety of additional learning needs, which may include:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
• Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
• ADHD
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Behavioural needs
• Sensory and physical needs

Your role will involve delivering tailored lessons, supporting emotional well‑being, and helping students overcome barriers to learning. Positions are available in specialist SEN schools, alternative provisions, and mainstream settings with dedicated SEN departments.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Plan, deliver, and adapt lessons to meet individual student needs
• Create an inclusive learning environment that promotes progress and independence
• Use differentiated teaching strategies and personalised resources
• Assess pupils regularly and track progress in line with school policies

Behaviour & Well‑Being

• Implement behaviour support plans and positive reinforcement strategies
• Promote emotional regulation and resilience
• Build supportive, trusting relationships with students

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with TAs, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
• Maintain strong communication with parents/carers and external professionals
• Contribute to EHCPs, reviews, and multi-agency meetings

Classroom Management

• Create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
• Manage behaviour calmly and consistently
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are always followed

✅ Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• An understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice
• Patience, empathy, and resilience
• A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Desirable:

• Experience in specialist SEN settings
• Training in Team Teach, Moving & Handling, PECs, Makaton, or similar
