Functional Skills Tutor – Newark, Nottinghamshire
£25–£30 per hour | Flexible hours | 1:1 and small-group tuition
TP Tutors is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutors to deliver engaging and effective tuition in Newark and the wider Nottinghamshire area. This is an excellent opportunity to support learners in developing essential skills that will benefit them both academically and in everyday life.
The Role
You will provide tailored one-to-one and small-group tuition in English, maths, and functional literacy/numeracy. Lessons may take place in learners’ homes, community venues, or other suitable locations. The focus will be on building confidence, addressing knowledge gaps, and preparing students for Functional Skills qualifications.
Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality Functional Skills tuition in maths and English

Adapt lessons to suit different learning needs and abilities

Break down core concepts into accessible, practical learning steps

Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback

Comply with safeguarding and child protection requirements
Requirements
-
Strong knowledge of Functional Skills curriculum (Entry Level to Level 2)

Teaching or tutoring experience with young people and/or adults
-
Experience supporting SEND and/or SEMH learners is desirable
-
Excellent communication and organisational skills
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Up-to-date safeguarding training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
