We are looking for a Teacher to work in a secondary school. The school is for ages 11-16 and caters for pupils with identified special needs relating to their social, emotional and mental health needs. This school recently received a Good from OFSTED and is actively looking for individuals, particularly those working in Behaviour support, to propel them to the next level of ‘Outstanding’. The ideal Teaching Assistant would be someone who:
• Has teaching experience in a secondary school environment
• Experience working with social, emotional and mental health
• Can keep calm under pressure
• Has a warm and friendly personality.
As a result of this you as a Teacher would be supporting classes of no more than 8 pupils. In addition to this excellent pupil to adult ratio, the school also a fantastic and extended Pastoral team including a Transition Co-ordinator, Family Support Worker, and a Pupil Support Worker. This would ensure you are supported at all times during your employment and are able to give your very best to your pupils as they develop and mature.
Your job as a Teacher would to plan and create vibrant and engaging curriculums to work with the pupils as they aim to achieve high in various subjects such as Maths and English as well as creative subjects. You would additionally support these young people in a moral and social sense, by displaying patient and calm attitudes to provide a good role model for them. This may additionally involve deescalating situations where pupils become angry or frustrated by providing an ear to listen to them and get them back to level where they are able to learn.
The school is located in Stretford and has great transport links to the surrounding area and Manchester City centre, including buses and trams.
In addition, you will need to complete all necessary vetting checks including proof of identity, a DBS on the Update Service and producing two recent references.
