SEN Teaching Assistant - The School

This 3 form Primary School recognises the value of all their staff members and treats all staff members with the upmost respect giving them training and support.They are now looking for a bubbly and energetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team until the end of the academic year (with potential to roll on to next year). The SENCo, who is also the dpeuty head, has worked at this school for over 10 years so you will have the opportunity to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant under the supervision of a very experienced Senior Leadership Team member.

The school is situated in the heart of Haringey which is one the most progressive areas to work in London, providing an inclusive, caring and friendly community. It has easily accessible transport links to the rest of the city, giving you unlimited commuter freedom in and out of London

Mainstream Primary Schools in Haringey are currently looking for SEN teaching assistants who specialise in ASC, Challenging Behaviour, Makaton & PECs.

Teaching Personnel are committed in helping these schools find the right candidates for them. These roles vary from 3-5 days a week and involve providing support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health as well as SEN.

SEN Teaching Assistant - The Role

The SEN team are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant who has experience working with either ASC, Dyslexia, Challenging Behaviour, PLD, MLD, PECs and Makaton. 

The right candidates will:

  • Have experience providing specialist support to children with SEN
  • Have experience working 1:1 and in small groups with children who have moderate to severe behavioural difficulties
  • Have experience liaising with Parents and SENCO on the child’s progress
  • Experience working with children within primary schools is desirable but not compulsory

Although a background in a school setting is desirable it is not essential, the schools will also consider candidates who come from other backgrounds:

 -Youth work   -Sports coaching   -NEET -Drama & Art -Criminology or Psychology Degree  

 -Core subjects: English, Maths & Science
