SEN Learning Support Assistant – Outreach School (Driver Required)
Location: Plymouth and surrounding areas
Contract Type: Full-time
Start Date: November 2025
Pay: Competitive rate – dependent on experience

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist outreach school in Plymouth, supporting students with a variety of learning and behavioural needs in alternative and mainstream education settings.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and eager to make a real difference in the lives of young people across the Plymouth area.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).

Work across different school and outreach settings, supporting students in classrooms or community-based learning environments.

Build positive relationships with students, promoting engagement, confidence, and independence.

Implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans under the guidance of teachers and SEN coordinators.

Monitor progress and report on student development.

Maintain a calm, patient, and encouraging approach to help students manage challenges effectively.
Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or care setting).

Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business insurance (essential).

Willingness to travel between school sites and outreach placements across Plymouth.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude to supporting children with additional needs.

Right to work in the UK.

(Desirable) Teaching Assistant qualification or experience supporting SEMH/ASD pupils.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
