Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to work in mainstream primary schools across Plymouth, providing tailored support to pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or those awaiting placement in alternative provisions or special schools.

Role Overview

  • Work closely with classroom teachers and SENCOs to deliver personalised learning.
  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social/emotional challenges.
  • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs to help students achieve their goals.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, fostering inclusion and engagement in the classroom.
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with SEN (school-based or similar setting).
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and adapt to individual needs.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training) are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
