SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Torbay and surrounding areas.
Hours: Flexible working, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Salary: £4 per hour
Age Range: 11–19 years

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive environment for learners with ASD, supporting them to reach their full academic and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for learners with ASD
  • Assist the class teacher by delivering adapted lesson support tailored to individual needs and learning styles
  • Encourage pupils to remain engaged, motivated, and confident throughout lessons
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment
  • Be available for flexible, on-the-day cover when required

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working within SEN settings (ASD experience desirable)
  • Flexible and reliable work availability
  • A compassionate, positive, and proactive personality – someone who takes initiative and supports the team without prompting
  • Ability to adapt to changing behaviour and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow teacher guidance
  • A valid DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
