Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Specialist Provision & Mainstream Support)
Location: Bristol, BS30
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £90 per day (increased rates available based on experience and qualifications)
Position Type: Full-time, through a recruitment agency
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and dynamic primary school, providing essential support both within a specialist provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and in the main school. This full-time role will see you working closely with children who have a range of learning needs, offering support in the morning within the specialist provision, before transitioning to provide general support in the main school in the afternoon.
Key Responsibilities:

Support children in the specialist provision during the morning session, helping them access learning and engage with a tailored curriculum

Provide a calm and positive learning environment for SEN pupils, assisting with both academic tasks and social development

Work alongside the class teacher and other staff to deliver individualised support, ensuring that each child’s needs are met

Assist in the delivery of activities, helping all children develop their learning in a fun, engaging, and supportive way
Requirements:
-
Experience working with children in any capacity is essential (e.g., in schools, childcare, youth work, etc.)

Experience supporting pupils with SEN is preferred but not essential

A proactive, patient, and caring approach to supporting children’s learning

The ability to be flexible and adapt to different classroom environments
-
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable, but not mandatory

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
