Job description

Specialist Support Staff needed for a local SEN School

  • Work closely with Special Needs children
  • Flexible working hours
  • Full/Part time roles available

If you have a background in working with children with Special Educational Needs, and you also have experience in teaching or teaching assistant work then I’d love to hear from you!

I am currently working in partnership with a local Special Needs school in Northamptonshire and I’m seeking to recruit dedicated and passionate individuals with experience working with children with Severe and Profound Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Autism.

The school that I’m working alongside are currently rated as Outstanding on their most recent Ofstead report. They aim to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, alongside promoting the benefits of creative therapy.

If you have experience or knowledge in things such as Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Massage Therapy and other aspects of Sensory Subjects then you could be the perfect candidate.

The school place a strong emphasis on the development of independence and self-esteem, so if you’ve previously worked in Social Care or Support Work, helping those with Special Needs become more independent and confident, your skills would be easily transferrable into a classroom based environment.

No specific qualifications are necessary for a Teaching Assistant role through Teaching Personnel, though it is important that you do have experience working with children and/or with Special Needs such as Autism and Profound Learning Difficulties in some capacity.

Teaching Personnel are the leading education recruitment agency in the UK and are committed to recruiting the best candidates available. In order to work through Teaching Personnel, you’ll need a Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service.

If you’re interested in applying to work through Teaching Personnel then please contact Sam on the SEN Recruitment Team on 01604 521215 or via email on

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
