SEN- Teaching Assistant- Part time

A part- time position for a teaching assistant who has a considerable amount of experience working with pupils with SEN. Initially, the position is part time for the first school term September – October 2017; however there may be an opportunity for permanent dependent on the need of the school.

The school is located in Rochdale close by to the city centre and provides education for pupils with generic learning difficulties. The school was recently inspected in 2016 and was graded as a ‘good’ school and OFSTED commented that ‘all pupils achieve expected standards or better due to the support and commitment from staff at the school’.

The head teacher is currently seeking a teaching assistant to work in collaboration with a qualified teacher to support pupils with SEN in achieving their optimal development. Ideally the teaching assistant will have experience of working within a special needs setting and be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how to cater for with pupils with SEN. Experience working within a special needs setting is not essential as long as the teaching assistant can demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting pupil’s optimal development.

Due to the individual needs of pupils the teaching assistant will have:

- An- in depth knowledge and understanding of pupils with SEN

- A commitment to assuring that all pupils can achieve their optimal educational potential

- The ability to build strong working relationships with pupils with SEN

- Team- Teach training
