PMLD Teacher required to start immediately

A school in Walthamstow is currently looking for a SEN Teacher to support ASC, MLD, SLD and PMLD pupils across all Key Stages. This lovely school are currently seeking a candidate who has experience with complex needs. Depending on the class you are placed in, you could be required to do lesson planning, provide interactive lessons to SEN pupils. Most children are in wheelchairs so Moving and Handling would be desirable. On a daily basis the school use Makaton to communicate with the non verbal children. They also use PECS and TEACCH as a means to engage their pupils . The main criteria for a teacher here would be previous experience and passion to support SEN pupils.

This is a great opportunity for any candidate as you would be working with amazing staff and lovely students. CPD training is available and encouraged as this will give you a better understanding of how to support SEN pupils. The school has parking but also public transportation is good. Due to the expansion of the school, there are many opportunities for progression.

Must have:

• SEN or school based teaching experience

• QTS

• Understanding of complex needs

• DBS on the Update Service

Desirable attributes:

• PECS

• TEACCH

• Moving & Handling
