Job description

Are you a kind, patient and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you want to make a genuine difference to a child's day, every day? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a SEN Friend to join our dedicated and nurturing team, providing 1:1 support to primary-aged pupils at our SEN school in Haywards Heath. This is a truly rewarding opportunity to help children thrive both emotionally and academically in a safe, structured, and caring environment.

You’ll work closely with class teachers, therapists, and families to support the individual learning and emotional needs of the child in your care. The role is as much about building trust and connection as it is about assisting with learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with additional needs
  • Assist with learning tasks, emotional regulation, and social skills development
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment
  • Work collaboratively with the wider SEN team to track progress and set achievable goals

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with SEN (desirable but not essential)
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic nature
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and resilience
  • A willingness to learn and receive training
  • A genuine passion for making a difference

Training & Support:

Full training and ongoing professional development will be provided. Whether you're experienced or new to SEN, we value the right attitude and commitment to supporting children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
