About Us:
Our welcoming specialist primary SEND school in Haywards Heath provides a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for boys aged 5-11 with a range of complex needs, including autism, social emotional mental health (SEMH), ADHD, and speech and language difficulties. We are proud of our personalised approach, strong team ethos, and our commitment to helping every child reach their full potential.

The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team, working on a 1:1 basis with one of our primary-aged boys. This role involves supporting the pupil with both learning and emotional regulation throughout the school day, under the guidance of class teachers and the SENCo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 tailored support within the classroom and during activities

  • Help develop learning strategies suited to the individual child

  • Encourage social, emotional, and academic progress

  • Support with sensory needs, communication, and behaviour management

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families

You Will Need:

  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly SEMH and/or autism

  • A calm, patient, and resilient attitude

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils

  • A relevant qualification or willingness to learn (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
