This role would suit someone who is proactive, compassionate, and able to build positive relationships with young people who may require additional support to engage with learning and regulate their emotions.

The School

The school provides specialist education for pupils who all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place. Whilst learners' primary area of need is a learning disability, many pupils have a combination of additional needs that require personalised support from a skilled and dedicated staff team.

Pupils are supported within different provisions based on their age and individual needs, including KS3, KS4, KS5 and a structured provision, offering a varied and rewarding environment for support staff.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same in this role. You will be:

  • Helping students access lessons and develop independence skills.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils who may find education challenging.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to meet individual needs.
  • Providing personal care support where required.
  • Using positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils who may display challenging behaviours.
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Is confident, patient and proactive.

Can remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours effectively.

Works well as part of a team and communicates professionally with staff and pupils.

Has experience working with children or young people with additional needs.

Holds Team Teach training or is willing to complete Team Teach training.

Is comfortable supporting pupils with personal care requirements.

Has a genuine passion for helping young people reach their full potential.
