Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist educational setting in Bolton, supporting children and young people aged 11-19 years with a range of complex Special Educational Needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, delivery, and assessment of high-quality learning activities.
  • Lead small group interventions and deliver lessons when required.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and encourage independence.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Assist with personal care where required.
  • Support pupils during classroom activities, enrichment opportunities, and educational visits.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

✅ Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.

✅ Experience supporting pupils with complex SEN needs, including autism, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours.

✅ Previous experience in a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar educational support role.

✅ Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

✅ The ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and remain calm under pressure.

✅ A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach.

✅ Confidence working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

✅ HLTA status or equivalent experience (desirable).
