SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full Time – September Start

Location: Bolton
Start Date: September
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Bolton area from September.

The setting supports students aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, attachment difficulties, trauma-related behaviours, and challenging behaviour.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Support students with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Assist with personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Support educational visits and community-based activities.
  • Promote independence, wellbeing, and social development.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, youth work, care, or support work backgrounds.
  • Calm, resilient, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
