Are you passionate about supporting young people who need guidance, encouragement, and someone to believe in them?

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEMH Support Mentor to join a specialist setting in Salford this September. You will support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, and behavioural challenges that can impact both learning and daily school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring and support.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
  • Encourage engagement in lessons and school activities.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support plans.
  • Promote confidence, resilience, and social skills.
  • Assist with de-escalation and restorative approaches when required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and families.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, wellbeing, and behaviour.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in mentoring, youth work, education, support work, care, or behavioural support.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to set clear boundaries while remaining empathetic and supportive.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
