Teaching Personnel

Are you an experienced Youth Worker or someone with a background supporting young people in community, outreach, mentoring, or support settings? If so, Teaching Personnel has an exciting opportunity for you to join a secondary school in Bolton as a SEMH Teaching Assistant.

In this rewarding role, you will support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, attachment difficulties, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, and behavioural challenges. Many pupils have faced barriers both inside and outside of education and benefit greatly from consistent support, positive relationships, and trusted adult role models.

The Role

✔️ Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs.

✔️ Build positive, professional relationships that encourage trust and engagement.

✔️ Act as a mentor and role model, supporting students both academically and emotionally.

✔️ Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.

✔️ Encourage attendance, participation, and positive decision-making.

✔️ Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals to support student outcomes.


What We're Looking For

A background in youth work, mentoring, community support, outreach work, or similar roles.

Experience working with vulnerable or challenging young people.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach.

A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve success.
