Graduate SEMH Learning Support Assistant

PRU, Manchester | Full-Time | Term-Time Only | September Start

Teaching Personnel are seeking a motivated and compassionate Graduate SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Manchester this September.

This role is ideal for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, counselling, social work, youth work, or mental health support. You will work with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, such as anxiety, ADHD, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, and behavioural challenges.

PRUs provide specialist education for young people who may have struggled in mainstream settings due to SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, exclusion, or disrupted education.

The Role

✅Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.

✅Build positive relationships and act as a role model.

✅Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation.

✅Help pupils engage in lessons and achieve their potential.

✅Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support student progress.

Requirements

A degree in any subject.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Resilient, patient, and empathetic approach.

A genuine passion for supporting young people.

Previous experience with young people is desirable but not essential.
