Are you a resilient, compassionate, and proactive Teaching Assistant ready to make a real difference? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within a specialist school setting in the Manchester area from September on a full-time basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a structured and supportive environment where behaviour management and strong relationships are key to pupil success.


About the Role

You will be providing 1:1 support to a pupil aged 11–16 within a specialist provision. The setting caters for students with a range of needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Challenging behaviour linked to additional needs

The school offers a highly supportive, structured environment with a strong focus on consistency, positive behaviour strategies, and personalised support plans. Staff work closely together to create a safe space where students can build confidence and re-engage with learning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support, both in and out of the classroom
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies consistently
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Support learning activities and adapt tasks to meet individual needs
  • Encourage emotional regulation, social skills, and engagement
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet EHCP targets
  • Monitor and report on progress and behaviour

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or challenging behaviour
  • Strong, confident behaviour management skills (essential)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
