Teaching Personnel
Teaching Personnel is recruiting a compassionate and resilient SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Manchester. Students may present with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and behavioural challenges.
PRUs support young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to exclusion, risk of exclusion, behavioural needs, or other barriers to learning. The setting provides smaller class sizes and tailored support to help students achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
- Build positive relationships and act as a role model.
- Promote engagement, attendance, and positive behaviour.
- Support teachers in delivering lessons and interventions.
- Use behaviour management and de-escalation strategies where required.
Requirements
- Experience working with young people in education, care, youth work, coaching, or support roles.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
