SEMH Teaching Assistant Position in Prestwich

Do you have experience working with children with special needs and behaviour issues or have previous experience working as a behaviour support assistant or a similar role? If so we may have a perfect opportunity for you here at Teaching Personnel. There is currently an open position requiring an immediate start for a SEMH teaching assistant in a popular school in the Prestwich area, rated Outstanding by OFSTED. The job role will include offering 1:1 support for young children with SEMH needs as well as providing assistance in lesson for children with behaviour issues and helping to support other areas of the SEN department within the school.

  • SEMH Teaching assistant position for children with SEMH needs
  • Weekly pay between £55-£65 a day depending on experience and responsibilities
  • Well established school in Prestwich area, rated outstanding by Ofsted
  • Support SEMH pupils on a 1:1 basic

Our client is an average sized, mixed gender school very popular with parents in the Prestwich area, consisting of pupils aged 11-16. They have been rated outstanding by OFSTED in all areas they were assessed and perform above the national average in their Attainment 8 score.

Due to a gap in their SEN department our client are actively looking for a teaching assistant and behaviour support to help fulfil their mission statement to 'provide each of our pupils with the opportunity to fulfil their full potential in a caring and supportive environment, where high quality teaching and learning can take place ensuring success for all of our pupils. We maintain positive links with the wider community and promote in our pupils, self esteem, an appreciation of rights and a willingness to accept responsibilities.‟

Highlights of working as a SEMH teaching assistant at our client school in Prestwich:

- Assisting in the transition of SEN pupils from year 6 to year 7

- Providing out of class room teaching while assisting in the philosophy of fully integrating all SEN pupils into mainstream classes

- Monitoring and tracking behaviour of SEMH pupils

- Assisting in raising levels of focused learning in lessons

- Liaising with Heads of Faculty and SENCO about progress being made

- Helping young students overcome their behavioural issues through 1:1 support

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
