Job description
Teaching Assistant (Mental Health Support Focus) – Thrapston – KS3/KS4
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (Term Time Only)
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our committed team, working with KS3/KS4 students at our school in Thrapston. This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children or adults with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in nurturing a positive learning environment, offering emotional support, and helping students overcome challenges that may affect their education and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support, focusing on emotional regulation, coping strategies, and self-care techniques.

Assist in the creation and delivery of tailored educational and support plans for students with mental health concerns.

Monitor and report on students’ progress, maintaining close communication with teachers and the wider pastoral team.

Support behaviour management strategies, ensuring a calm and supportive environment.

Uphold confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding procedures at all times.
Essential Requirements:
-
Experience working with children, adolescents, or adults with SEMH needs, either in educational or mental health settings.

Strong understanding of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.

Calm, resilient, and able to manage challenging situations effectively.

Commitment to safeguarding, professional development, and promoting the wellbeing of all students.

All staff are required to complete safeguarding training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
