Social Emotional Mental Health Needs Teaching Assistant

We are currently working with a Specialist school in the Rotherham S62 area, seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant. This school supports students between the ages of 3-19, complex needs. Many of the students have Mental Health Conditions, and therefore it is essential that you are positive, nurturing and patient.

This is a brilliant opportunity for those with no teaching experience, hoping to begin a career in education. It is also a great opportunity for experienced care workers and teaching assistants who are looking utilise their experience to make a difference in Specialist schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support.
  • Assist in implementing individualized education plans.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to create an optimal learning environment.
  • Aid in classroom activities and organization.
  • Support students in developing social skills and positive behaviour to assist them inside and outside of the classroom.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a school or care setting is preferred but certainly not required - As an agency, we provide relevant training for roles such as this.
  • Knowledge of how to support those with SEN, Mental Health Difficulties and Medical requirements
  • It is desirable that you have completed at least one of the following CPD Qualifications, though it is not essential: Moving & Handling, Team Teach.

Important information:

  • This is a full-time role (Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 3:30) however, those available on a part-time basis are encouraged to apply, as there are plenty of similar jobs available on a part time basis.
  • Pay is dependent on experience but will be between £80 – £100 per day

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
