Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

Are you a patient, empathetic, and committed individual looking to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Teaching Personnel is working with a fantastic school in Carshalton that offers an inclusive environment where pupils with SEN access the mainstream curriculum, helping to ensure they have the same opportunities as their peers in mainstream settings.

We are seeking a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join the team and work closely with students to build confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation, while also supporting academic progress.


The Role:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Assist in delivering and adapting lessons from the mainstream curriculum

  • Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support teams to create a cohesive learning environment

  • Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and positive learning experiences every day


About You:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or other special educational needs is desirable but not essential

  • Calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children who may display challenging behaviour

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • Passionate about inclusive education and helping all pupils reach their potential

  • Resilient and eager to learn and grow in a supportive school environment
