SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist further education setting in Bournemouth.

This role involves supporting students aged 16 to 18 as they work towards important milestones and learn valuable life and academic skills.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, working from 8.30am to 4.30pm, with some weekdays finishing slightly earlier depending on the timetable.

An immediate start is available.

Your Role in the Classroom
• Supporting students in lessons, helping them stay focused and engaged
• Building professional, trusting relationships that encourage positive behaviour
• Assisting the teacher with planning, preparation and activity delivery
• Encouraging independence and fostering personal responsibility
• Helping create a structured environment where every student feels valued

This is an active role where each day offers new experiences and the chance to make a genuine impact on a young person’s future.

 

What We Are Looking For
• A minimum of six months of childcare or youth support experience, ideally involving SEN or SEMH support
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle, due to the location not being easily accessible by public transport
• A calm, confident and encouraging approach when supporting young people
• Someone who is reliable, proactive and committed to helping students achieve their goals

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
