SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary Alternative Provision
Location: Blackburn with Darwen
Hours: Full-time, long-term

Monday–Thursday: 8:00am – 3:20pm

Friday: 8:00am – 2:30pm
We are seeking a resilient and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a Secondary Alternative Provision in the Blackburn with Darwen area. This is a long-term role supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom present very challenging behaviour.
This role is not for the faint-hearted, but it is highly rewarding for the right person.
The Role:

Supporting students aged secondary level with SEMH needs
-
Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
-
Building strong, consistent relationships with pupils
-
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff
-
Supporting learning both in and out of the classroom
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Has experience working with SEMH, behaviour, PRU or alternative provision (desirable)

Is calm under pressure and emotionally resilient
-
Can set clear boundaries while remaining empathetic
-
Is committed, reliable, and able to work full-time
-
Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
