Part time position for an experienced Youth Worker in specialist school in Oldham. A specialist school in Oldham are looking to appoint a part-time teaching assistant in commencing in September 2017. Initially, the Youth Work position is temporary for the first term September - October 2017.
The setting caters for pupils 11-16 who are being educated outside of mainstream schools for a variety of reasons which may include: social, emotional and mental health needs and pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour. The main aim of the setting is to implement the appropriate support mechanisms in order to re-integrate pupils back into mainstream setting.
Ideally the Youth Worker will have experience of planning and delivering interventions which are designed to support the optimal development of pupils with challenging behaviour. The ideal Youth Worker will have experience of working with pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour and know to prevent situations reaching crisis point.
Due to the needs of the pupils the Youth Worker will have:
- A level 2 teaching assistant qualification (desirably level 3)
- Experience working with pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour
- An understanding of crisis prevention tactics
- Team- Teach training (desirable Teaching Personnel can provide)
- An awareness of how to cater for pupils with challenging behaviour and support them in achieving the optimal potential
