Teaching Personnel is recruiting a resilient, energetic and committed Behaviour Mentor to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Carmarthen. This is a rewarding and hands-on role supporting pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support outside of mainstream education.

The Role
You will:
- Support pupils displaying challenging behaviour
- Build strong, consistent and positive relationships
- Act as a role model and mentor
- De-escalate situations calmly and effectively
- Use sport and physical activity as engagement tools
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
This is not a desk job — it’s active, practical and relationship-focused.
✅ Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (on the Update Service or willingness to obtain)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Proven experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Sporty, energetic and confident leading physical activities
- Resilient, patient and consistent approach
Ideal Candidate
- Experience in PRU, SEMH, alternative provision or youth work
- Understanding of trauma-informed approaches
- Confident setting clear boundaries
- Thick-skinned but big-hearted
- Team player with a sense of humour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
