Rather than taking the first vacancy available, the aim is to find a school where you can develop, gain confidence and enjoy the beginning of your teaching career.
✅ What You'll Be Doing
As an Early Career Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons within your subject specialism
- Teach students across KS3 and KS4, with potential KS5 opportunities
- Develop positive relationships with students
- Create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment
- Assess progress and provide constructive feedback
- Adapt teaching for different abilities and SEND needs
- Develop confident and consistent classroom management
- Work collaboratively with your department and wider school community
- Continue developing your teaching practice through mentoring, feedback and CPD
✅ Who I'm Looking For
This is suitable for:
✔ Trainee teachers due to achieve QTS
✔ Newly qualified Early Career Teachers
✔ PGCE students approaching the end of their training
✔ SCITT and school-based teacher trainees
✔ ECTs who haven't yet found the right school
✔ Teachers wanting to explore different Bristol schools before deciding where to begin their career
You don't need years of experience. Schools understand that you're at the beginning of your career and are looking for potential, enthusiasm and a willingness to develop.
✅ What You'll Need
- QTS or pending QTS
- Relevant degree and/or strong subject knowledge
- Experience gained through your teaching placements
- Passion for your subject and education
- A reflective and enthusiastic approach to teaching
- Commitment to inclusive education
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Enhanced Child-Only DBS, or willingness to apply for one

Starting your ECT journey can feel like a big decision, and finding the right school matters.
You'll have access to:
- Secondary teaching opportunities across Bristol
- Support matching you with schools suited to your personality and teaching style
- Permanent and long-term positions
- Interview and application support
- Ongoing CPD opportunities
- A dedicated consultant who works closely with Bristol secondary schools
Start Your ECT Journey
If you're completing your teacher training and looking ahead to your first teaching role, I'd love to have a conversation about your subject, placements and what you're looking for from a school.
Send your CV across and we can start exploring suitable opportunities.
