Job Overview
We are recruiting Secondary Early Career Teachers (ECTs) for secondary schools across Manchester for a September 2026 start.
This opportunity is ideal for newly qualified teachers or final‑year trainees looking to secure their first ECT role in a supportive secondary school with a strong induction process and structured mentoring in line with the Early Career Framework.
Roles are available on a permanent, fixed‑term or long‑term basis, depending on preference.
Role Responsibilities
As a Secondary ECT, you will:
- Teach your subject specialism across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 available in some schools)
- Plan, deliver and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment
- Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Track pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Work closely with mentors, heads of department and senior leaders
- Complete your statutory ECT induction with structured support

Candidate Requirements
To be considered, you must:
- Hold (or be on track to obtain) QTS in England
- Be an Early Career Teacher or trainee qualifying in 2026
- Be confident teaching your subject at secondary level
- Have strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Be committed to professional development and progression
