Science Technician Role- Newcastle

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-resourced and supportive secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for science who enjoys working in an educational environment and wants to play a key role within a busy Science department.

This role would be great for:

• Professionals who enjoy practical science and organisation but do not wish to pursue teaching

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, resources, and materials for practical Science lessons
• Support the delivery of experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure the science preparation room remains organised and fully stocked
• Monitor and uphold health and safety procedures within the department
• Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records
• Safely store and dispose of chemicals and materials in accordance with COSHH regulations
• Provide practical support to teaching staff where required

Requirements

• A degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related Science subject is desirable
• Previous laboratory experience or knowledge of scientific procedures
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• A proactive, methodical, and safety-focused approach to work
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
