Job description

Science Teacher – Tameside Area – September 2025 Start

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Science Teacherto join a growing and well-resourced Science department at a secondary school in the Tameside area from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to teach General Science at KS3 and a specialism (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) at KS4, with the possibility of KS5 teaching for suitably experienced candidates.

The school is proud of its broad and balanced science curriculum, strong exam outcomes, and commitment to delivering practical, real-world science. Labs are fully equipped and supported by an experienced team of science technicians. Teachers have access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, cross-curricular STEM projects, and outreach from universities and employers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching all science disciplines at KS3, and one specialism at KS4 (and KS5 if applicable)

  • Delivering practical science in a safe and engaging way

  • Planning and delivering creative, challenging lessons that cater to diverse learners

  • Tracking pupil progress using data to inform lesson planning and interventions

  • Supporting science-based enrichment including clubs, national science week, and trips

  • Participating in CPD and whole-school initiatives related to literacy, digital learning and numeracy

The Ideal Candidate:

  • QTS and a degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)

  • Proven experience teaching Science at secondary level, including to GCSE

  • Strong behaviour management skills and an inclusive, enthusiastic classroom presence

  • Confidence in practical science and laboratory safety

  • A commitment to collaborative planning and curriculum innovation

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
