As a Science Teacher, you will play a vital role in educating and inspiring students in the field of science. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons to students, fostering their curiosity and understanding of scientific concepts. This role is temporary and requires full-time availability.

Job Duties:

  • Plan and deliver science lessons to students based on the approved curriculum
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments
  • Facilitate classroom discussions, experiments, and practical activities to promote active learning
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and grades
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents/guardians to support student development
  • Stay updated with advancements in the field of science and incorporate them into teaching practises
  • Ensure a safe and organised classroom environment

Required Qualifications:

  • A valid teaching qualification and certification
  • Specialisation in science or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the national curriculum for science
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Adaptability and flexibility in teaching approaches

Education:

A degree in science or a related field is required. A teaching qualification and certification are also necessary.

Experience:

Prior experience teaching science at the secondary school level is preferred but not mandatory. Newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of scientific principles and concepts
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies and strategies
  • Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation techniques
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications or training in science education
  • Experience in designing and delivering STEM-related activities
  • Experience with educational software and online learning platforms

Working Conditions:

You will be working in a secondary school setting, delivering lessons in a classroom environment. The role is temporary and requires full-time availability. You may need to adapt to varying classroom conditions and work collaboratively with colleagues and parents/guardians.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
