Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join one of our SEN schools in Cambridge. This school is an Ofsted rated outstanding school that caters for 5 - 19 years olds with a diagnosis of autism or Asperger’s syndrome. They believe that every student is different, and should be prepared to make the most of the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing round-the-clock care and support to our students within our residential facilities. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety, well-being, and personal development of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised care and support to students with SEN, including assisting with personal hygiene, daily activities etc.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment within the residential facilities.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting independence, self-esteem, and social skills development.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with SEN, preferably in a residential or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and needs associated with SEN, including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting individuals with SEN.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the residential schedule.
  • Relevant qualifications in health and social care, education, or a related field are desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
