Qualified Primary Teacher (Maternity Cover) – SEN School

Location: Rochdale
Start Date: September

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Primary Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Rochdale on a full-time maternity cover basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support Key Stage 1 pupils with complex needs in a well-supported and nurturing environment.

The Role

You will take lead responsibility for a mixed-ability KS1 class, delivering personalised learning to pupils with a range of additional needs. The school provides a well-resourced and inclusive setting where staff work collaboratively to ensure every child is supported to succeed.

Class Profile

Pupils within this class may present with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Physical Disabilities (PD)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with EHCPs
  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and multidisciplinary teams
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress effectively
  • Support pupils with communication, behaviour, and sensory needs

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Proven experience working within SEN settings – essential
  • Experience teaching KS1 or primary-aged pupils
  • Strong understanding of autism and complex learning needs
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviours positively
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
