Teaching Personnel has just had a partnership agreement signed with a school in Horfield and they are currently looking for Psychology graduates to support SEND students in the school.

WHY PSYCHOLOGY GRADUATES???

Over the past year there seems to be a common denominator that brings success to the department and it is in the shape of Psychology graduates. Graduates in general are general smart, quick learners, committed, confident and enthusiastic. When you throw psychology in the mix, it really works well with students with SEND. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

A large chunk of the SEND students have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). These pupils are vulnerable and probably have complicated home lives. This will generally manifest in two ways – emotional or aggression. A number of students will be known to social services and some in the care system. Psychology graduates understand the route cause of these behaviours and can deal with them appropriately.

Furthermore, the school loves running extra-curricular clubs like drama therapy, lego therapy and music therapy. If you have a psychology related extra curricular activity you want to provide, the school encourages this.

You will be supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30 and will be supported by the SENCO throughout. You are there to support students academically and pastorally and give them the best opportunities possible!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
