Primary Teaching Assistant

Job description

A wonderful opportunity for a primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs.

  • Full time (school hours)
  • Working within Key Stage 1 and 2
  • Immediate starts and January positions
  • GBP10 an hour

Teaching Personnel are working with SEN Schools across Dorset, who are looking for Teaching Assistants to join their team. The schools can cater for pupils aged 5-12 years with Autism, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLS & SLD) and Complex needs. The schools follow the National Curriculum and run similarly to a mainstream primary school, with small class sizes of around 6-8 pupils.

You will be working as a class-based Teaching Assistant. This will involve supporting the teacher with the lessons and helping pupils with their work. You will also be required to support children on a 1-1 basis and will be responsible for behaviour management and providing emotional support.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, pro-active person who has a real passion for supporting children with special needs. Experience in a school setting is not required, but you should have some experience working with children or adults with special needs.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
