Job description
**Have you worked with children and are looking for your next career step? Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant or looking to start your journey in a Primary School setting, this could be the perfect opportunity to take your next step! We want to hear from you!**
This Primary School with its circa 170 pupils based in Machen, was last rated GOOD and with EXCELLENT attributes as rated by ESTYN. Standards of pupils’ wellbeing are high and pupils enjoy going to school and appreciate what the school has to offer. Staff provide pupils with an extremely high standard of care and anticipate their needs well. There is an exceptionally warm and caring atmosphere in the school, and this helps all pupils to feel valued. Teachers provide interesting learning experiences and enhance these well through trips, visits, and engagement with the local community. They support individual pupils well to reach their potential. The headteacher provides the school with strong leadership and engages the whole school community positively in improving the school. Leaders monitor and evaluate the school’s work robustly and all staff and governors work well together to bring about the necessary improvements.
The school is looking for a full time Teaching Assistant who can work throughout the school with different year groups, and who can engage with pupils of any age. They need to be versatile and dynamic, and enthusiastic about supporting children’s learning and development. They will sometimes be working as a general Teaching Assistant, and at other times they may be working on a one-to-one basis with children who require extra support due to additional or specialist learning needs that they may have. They value Teaching Assistants or those who have worked with children who are initiative-taking, direct, and eager to engage fully in classroom life and school activities. As 25+% of this schools’ pupils have been statemented with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), experience in working with ALN would be hugely favoured.
