Not every student needs someone to teach them, they need someone to believe in them.
Teaching Personnel is working alongside supportive secondary schools across Newport to recruit dedicated Positive Behaviour Mentors who can help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, remaining calm under pressure, and making a genuine impact on young people's lives.
The Role
As a Positive Behaviour Mentor, you'll work with students who may need additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation, attendance, or engagement in education.
You'll become a trusted adult who helps pupils develop positive routines, improve behaviour, and reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group behaviour support
- Building positive relationships with pupils who require additional guidance
- Encouraging engagement, confidence, and resilience
- Supporting students both inside and outside of lessons
- Helping to de-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour strategies
- Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN departments
- Promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
- Monitoring student progress and celebrating achievements

Experience in education is welcomed but not essential.

Educator Requirements
The ideal candidate will also require the following or already hold & willing to apply for: (We can help you obtain the below as part of the registration process)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service
- Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)
- Aged 18 and over
- Level 2 Safeguarding Course as part of your onboarding with us
- A Minimum of 2 professional based references which cover a 24-month period of employment (or equivalent)
