Location: Newport, South Wales
Pay: From £92.63 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: September 2026

Are you a graduate planning to complete a PGCE or teacher training programme in the future?

Before stepping into your own classroom, gain invaluable experience working alongside experienced teachers in a secondary school. Teaching Personnel is looking for enthusiastic, motivated graduates to join our partner schools across Newport as Teaching Assistants.

This role is designed for aspiring teachers who want to develop classroom confidence, behaviour management skills, and a genuine understanding of life in a secondary school before beginning their teaching qualification.

You'll become an integral part of the school community, supporting pupils academically and emotionally while learning from experienced education professionals every day.


What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you will:

  • Support pupils across Key Stages 3 & 4 during lessons
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning
  • Support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), Autism, ADHD and SEMH
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence and engagement
  • Assist with classroom behaviour management
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment

No two days are the same, making this a fantastic opportunity to build practical experience before teacher training.

Requirements

Teaching Personnel will support you throughout registration.

  • Degree (completed or due to graduate this year)
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • EWC Registration (or willingness to register)
  • Two professional references covering the last 24 months
  • Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
