About the School:

Located in North Yorkshire between the towns of York and Harrogate, we offer outstanding facilities and motivated students who join us with a broad range of academic, social and cultural backgrounds. All full-time teachers complete 30 directed hours per week, with approximately 20 hours of teaching, and the rest made up of duties, practices, fixtures and form tutor responsibilities, as required. The availability for flexibility across 5 days worked would be an advantage.  The Schools offers an extensive co-curricular programme of sports and activities and provides a programme of Performance Sport training and Academies.  

Your duties and responsibilities are as follows:

• Establish an appropriate learning environment. Maintain good order and discipline amongst the students, safeguarding their health and safety

• Level 2/3 BTEC and GCSE course delivery

• Support with developing resources for the department

• Lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons / work plans / schemes of work as appropriate

• Monitor and evaluate students’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives

• Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on student achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence

• Take responsibility for keeping and updating records as agreed with the Head of Sport

• Undertake marking of students’ work and accurately record achievement / progress

• Promote positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour

• Administer and assess routine tests and invigilate department exams

• Communicate and consult with parents, outside bodies etc. as directed by the Head of Sport
