PDA Teaching Assistant

We are looking for an experienced and capable male teaching assistant to join the team at an "Outstanding" special school based in Crouch End.

The individual will be working 1:1 with a student with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)/ Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) so experience and training in this is an essential.

The school caters to students of all ages with a statement of Autism in their EHCP with varying levels of speech and language abilities. The student you would be working with is a 9 year old verbal student with high-functioning Autism and PDA. It is important to have a male assistant for this role as the student feels most comfortable having a male role model with them in the classroom. 

The role would begin ASAP and last for the remainder of the academic year (till July 2020) with the possibility of being taken on as a permanent member of staff in the wider school.

The ideal candidate must:

- Have experience/training with students with PDA/ODD

- Be available full time

- Be flexible, resilitent and approachable

- Have right to work in the UK

Please be aware all candidates must have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one to be put on the update service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
