Teaching Personnel is currently partnering with a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in the North Birmingham area to recruit a committed and enthusiastic individual to join their pastoral support team.
Job Overview:
As a member of the pastoral support team, you will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing and supporting positive behaviour across the school. Working closely with staff, students, and families, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where young people can thrive both emotionally and academically. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and has the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
Role Responsibilites:

Work alongside teaching staff to develop and implement effective behaviour management strategies and tailored support plans for individual students.

Foster positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage their emotional wellbeing and social development.

Support the monitoring of student attendance and engagement, taking proactive steps to address concerns and promote regular participation.

Communicate and coordinate with external agencies and professionals to provide holistic support for students’ needs.

Keep detailed and accurate records of student progress, behaviour and incidents, ensuring full compliance with safeguarding policies.
Role Requirements:
- Experience working with young people, children or particularly children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) or SEN
- Previous experience within a similar pastoral position
- Previous experience working within secondary schools as a TA/HLTA
- Empathetic, positive, caring and understanding demeanour
- Resilient and can remain calm in challenging environments
- Strong communication skills and works well within a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
