Teaching Personnel is currently partnering with a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in the North Birmingham area to recruit a committed and enthusiastic individual to join their pastoral support team.

Job Overview: 

As a member of the pastoral support team, you will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing and supporting positive behaviour across the school. Working closely with staff, students, and families, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where young people can thrive both emotionally and academically. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and has the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.

Role Responsibilites: 

• Work alongside teaching staff to develop and implement effective behaviour management strategies and tailored support plans for individual students.

• Foster positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage their emotional wellbeing and social development.

• Support the monitoring of student attendance and engagement, taking proactive steps to address concerns and promote regular participation.

• Communicate and coordinate with external agencies and professionals to provide holistic support for students’ needs.

• Keep detailed and accurate records of student progress, behaviour and incidents, ensuring full compliance with safeguarding policies.

Role Requirements:

• Experience working with young people, children or particularly children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) or SEN
• Previous experience within a similar pastoral position
• Previous experience working within secondary schools as a TA/HLTA
• Empathetic, positive, caring and understanding demeanour
• Resilient and can remain calm in challenging environments
• Strong communication skills and works well within a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
