The school is located close to public transport links including a tram stop and several local bus routes. In their latest Ofsted inspection in 2017, inspectors rated the leadership and management as 'Good' which is a particular strength of the school.
"As a Music Department we draw on the expertise, skills and experience of a diverse music team to deliver the highest quality of music education and offer our students excellent opportunities. We aim to engage and inspire students to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, while striving to increase children's self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As students' progress, we expect them to develop a critical appreciation of music, allowing them to compose and perform, and to listen with discrimination and insight. We are seeking to appoint a passionate and inspiring practitioner to join the Music department from June 2019." Head of Department.
Working as a Music Teacher at our partner school, prospective candidates should be able to teach both KS3 and KS4 lessons. At our popular partner schools music plays a central role in the life of the school and within its wider local community. For those students wishing to continue learning an instrument or vocals in Years 7 to 11 music scholarships are awarded, or instrumental and vocal tuition is undertaken as a part of GCSE Music study. All students awarded scholarships, or studying for GCSE Music, work towards either Associated Board (ABRSM) or Rockschool music performance exams, with many progressing to Grade 8 before they leave high school aged 16.
