Teaching Personnel is looking for a fantastic Music Teacher to join a welcoming, modern secondary school in South Bristol for September 2024.

The Performing Arts team offers a dynamic curriculum, encouraging collaboration and creativity. Their music program covers diverse styles like pop, rock, blues, jazz, musical theatre, and samba, fostering skills in voice, piano, guitar, and drums. Students compose using iPads with GarageBand, teaching the Eduqas GCSE at KS4, aiming to build strong musical foundations and lifelong passion. Collaborating with Drama, they stage performances year-round, therefore someone to enhance their extracurricular activities would be desirable.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing lesson plans that align with the needs and abilities of students.
  • Delivering engaging and informative music lessons that cover a range of topics such as music theory, history, performance techniques, and composition.
  • Providing instruction on various musical instruments, including but not limited to piano, guitar, drums, violin, etc., depending on the teacher's expertise and the school's offerings.
  • Teaching proper vocal techniques, breathing exercises, and performance skills to students interested in singing.
  • Leading and conducting school bands, orchestras, choirs, or other musical ensembles, guiding students in rehearsals and performances.
  • Evaluating students' progress through assessments, exams, and performances, and providing constructive feedback to help them improve.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay updated on current trends, techniques, and research in music education, attending workshops, conferences, and pursuing further qualifications when necessary.
  • Building connections with parents, community members, and local organizations to promote the value of music education and involve them in supporting students' musical development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
