5. Multilingual / EAL SEN Support Assistant – West Yorkshire

Locations: Leeds (LS10), Huddersfield (HD5), Wakefield (WF1/2), Keighley (BD20)
Daily Rate: £90–£105/day | Contract: Full-time, term-time | Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a SEN Support Assistant with multilingual skills to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are also learning English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for SEN pupils with EAL needs

  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum, using dual-language, visual, or assistive strategies

  • Assist teachers in differentiating lessons to ensure all pupils can participate

  • Promote social, emotional, and communication development

  • Collaborate with SEN staff, teachers, and parents to implement individual learning plans

Requirements:

  • Experience working with pupils with SEN or EAL in school, care, or support settings

  • Bilingual / multilingual abilities (any language) preferred

  • Full DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Full-time availability during school hours

  • Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills

Desirable:

  • Teaching Assistant experience or relevant education background

  • Psychology, education, or language-related degree

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
