Moving & Handling Trained Teaching Assistant – South Leeds (LS10)

Daily Rate: £90–£105/day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Temp-to-Perm

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistant with Moving & Handling training to join a specialist SEN school in LS10 (South Leeds). This role is perfect for someone who is confident supporting children with physical disabilities, complex needs, and PMLD, ensuring their safety and dignity at all times.

The Role:

  • Support pupils with mobility needs using hoists, slings, and other equipment safely.

  • Assist with positioning, transfers, and personal care as required.

  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt lessons to suit pupils’ physical and learning needs.

  • Encourage pupil participation in sensory activities and semi-formal learning programmes.

  • Use communication aids such as Makaton or PECS where appropriate.

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Moving & Handling training (essential).

  • Experience supporting children or young adults with physical disabilities, PMLD, or complex needs.

  • Patient, empathetic, and reliable with a strong understanding of safeguarding.

  • Willing to support with personal care as part of the role.

  • Enhanced DBS (child or child & adult workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.

  • Full-time availability (Monday–Friday).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
