SEN Teaching Assistant – Wakefield (WF3)

Daily Rate: £90–£105/day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Temp-to-Perm

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a specialist SEN school in Wakefield (WF1/WF2). This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with a range of needs including PMLD, ASC, MLD, and complex medical needs.

The Role:

  • Support pupils aged 4–19 with a variety of additional needs, including physical disabilities and communication difficulties.

  • Provide personal care, including toileting, feeding, and changing (training provided if required).

  • Assist with moving & handling and use of hoists and mobility equipment (training available).

  • Support pupils in accessing learning through adapted activities and communication aids.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a nurturing, safe environment.

  • Promote independence, confidence, and emotional regulation in every learner.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or adults with SEND (school, care, or health background).

  • Patient, empathetic, and reliable approach.

  • Comfortable providing personal care as part of the role.

  • Moving & Handling training (desirable but not essential – training can be arranged).

  • Enhanced DBS (child or child & adult workforce) on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

  • Full-time availability (Monday–Friday).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
