A school in Trafford is looking for an MFL teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis. The role will involve the teaching of MFL across a broad range of ages. This position presents itself as the ideal opportunity for an NQT looking to gain further experience within a secondary school setting, as well as for more experienced teachers looking for a new challenge. The required applicant will be educated to degree level in a language, and will preferably have direct secondary school experience previously.   As this is a teaching role, it is important that the given applicant is able to confidently deliver quality lessons, often with large class sizes. Competence in the delivery of both French and Spanish is exceptionally desirable. Those that also have some competence in German are also welcomed to apply.  Whilst being able to deliver the subjects listed, it is vital that the applicant can manage behaviour in line with the expectations laid out within school policy. Working to recommendations made by Ofsted is also imperative. Being able to successfully differentiate learning to meet the needs of SEN, as well as those whose primary language is not English, is of high importance. The role will commence after the Easter break, and run through until the end of the current academic year.  

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Engaging with pupils across a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • Constant personal development, access to consistent training and courses as set up by senior leadership teams.
  • Ensuring that students are fully engaged with tasks set, as well as aiding students with in class guidance and examination preparation.
  • Creating adequate educational resources, and ensuring the suitability of these based on students’ understanding of the language as well as catering for specific individual needs.
  • Working with students on an individual basis, assisting those who find MFL subjects difficult to grasp.
  • Additionally, working with pupils within a group setting.
  • Understanding the complexities that many students face when trying to learn a language.

The school is located just outside of Manchester city centre, with several motorway links close by allowing ease of access. Additionally, there are numerous public transport links in close proximity.
